АннотацияThe expanding geographical and ecological overlap of important agricultural pests, such as the Colorado potato beetle Leptinotarsa decemlineata and the beet webworm Loxostege sticticalis, creates potential pathways for cross- species pathogen transmission. Tubulinosema loxostegi ( Opisthosporidia, Microsporidia) , is a natural pathogen of L. sticticalis, widespread in populations of this host. The genus Tubulinosema is known for its exceptionally wide host range. The goal of the work was to test the susceptibility of L. decemlineata to this pathogen by feeding spores to larvae. As a result, the infection rate increased up to 98 % , with parasite spores developed in separate foci of gut tissues. Average spore yield did not exceed the initial infection dose, however, the infection induced significant pathological effects. Larval weight was reduced by nearly 50 % , and mortality increased significantly. This fact demonstrates a potential for cross- order entomopathogen transmission between ecologically overlapping pests.
